IR Conference Curriculum

The program includes a protected IR conference day on the last Thursday of each month, held at the main outpatient-based lab in Memphis. This recurring educational and administrative day provides residents with dedicated time to focus on the clinical, academic, technical, and practice management foundations of interventional radiology outside of routine service responsibilities.

The conference curriculum includes faculty-led lectures, the Morbidity and Mortality conference, case-based review, journal club, and discussions on business and private practice management. Case review emphasises procedural planning, complication management, clinical decision making, and procedural performance. These sessions create a consistent forum for structured learning, critical review, direct faculty mentorship, and exposure to the operational realities of modern interventional radiology practice.

A unique component of this curriculum is regular vendor-sponsored device and technology workshops, which allow residents to gain hands-on familiarity with the equipment, platforms, and procedural tools used across modern interventional radiology. Recent workshops have featured Penumbra, Inari, Terumo, Asahi, Sirtex, Okami, Varian, and Philips.
